Gurdonark's music stresses the ambience of the moment. One gets in, obtains a setting, soundscape or idea, and then the piece ends. Although a Gurdonark piece can crest six minutes, it's also quite customary for a piece to last ninety to one hundred fifty seconds. Gurdonark is a huge supporter of sharing Creative Commons music, and co-owns the free download Creative Commons netlabel www.negativesoundinstitute.com
Gurdonark delights in morphing and liberating sounds. The first album, "Vibrating Elecric Fields", featured the music of electric football fields. "Eerie Exchange Prairie Park" alternates between melodic dark ambience, using sliced music notation samples, and morphed found music from a city park, with benches and bridges. His subsequent albums on disfish.com and his music on negativesoundinstitute.com all feature a variety of synthesized ambience, sliced samples and hope.
Gurdonark records for Disfish Records, www.disfish.com, which uses a donationware model to revolutionize the way in which music is distributed. He also co-owns Negative Sound Institute, a netlabel which offers free Creative Commons downloads to all and sundry.
Gurdonark is about shared music, shared culture and absurdly fun sound.
This is music for people who don't want easy answers, but who never stop asking the questions in good faith.
Gurdonark has been played on a number of podcasts and internet radio programs, as well as featured in a number of short films. He welcomes airplay, reviews and interviews. Those who wish a gurdonark album on CD for such purposes may write gurdonark@aol.com
